The usual number of miles required during the off season award is 30K.
I was trying to price this on AA.com, but only got the non-discounted price.
Conclusion
I have never redeemed from US mainland to Hawaii due to numerous fare sales that I have been able to take advantage off. If uou are living in an expensive market, especially in Canada, these off season awards that is in this instance further discounted, can save you a lot.
It might be the case that you cannot price this on AA.com, but that you rather have to call the reservations. If you do that, try to get them to waive the telephone booking fee. It is not your fault that the online doesn’t seem to be able to price it.
