Emirates Skywards Gold Guest Lounge Access Changes

Emirates is reinstating the lounge access benefit for one guest of Skywards Gold member that is traveling in economy.

Emirates just sent an email about this change that takes effect on February 27, 2013. Emirates had previously allowed Skyward Gold member traveling in economy to bring in one companion to the lounge, but this was later removed likely due to lounge crowding.

Now, that Emirates has its new A terminal in Dubai that has huge business class lounge, the overcrowding really shouldn’t be a problem. Lounges at outstation like Melbourne are already struggling and overcrowded during the flight departures.

The ability to bring a guest to a lounge is normal benefit of an airline status and Emirate would have been in disadvantage had they not (eventually) extended this benefit for Skywards Gold members.
