Reminder To Apply Expiring Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond Suite Upgrades Today

The complimentary Hyatt Gold Passport suite upgrade electronic vouchers that were issued based on qualifying to Diamond status in 2011 are expiring today (February 28). You cannot extend the expiry of these, but you can apply them for future reservations as long as there is upgrade availability using these certificates.

Some properties have good availability using these certs while some don’t. Hyatt doesn’t reimburse properties for suite upgrade voucher usage, so properties have limited suite upgrade availability.

If you later cancel or move your reservation dates around, these “expired” certs cannot be applied again. If you didn’t qualify for Diamond status in 2012, this is a good way to ensure semi decent treatment at the property level for being a suite level guest i.e. club access is usually attached to a suite.

Personally, I am not huge fan of these suite upgrade certs and usually just let them expire. These three that I have sitting on my account will turn to dust tonight. I would rather take some extra Hyatt Gold Passport points in lieu of them, by that would actually cost program some money.

Here’s reminder of the terms and conditions of these suite upgrade certs:

Suite award is valid for reservations booked from 3/1/2012 to 2/28/2013 at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts where suite accommodations are available, and may be applied to future reservations. In the event a Suite award is redeemed for stay dates beyond expiration date and reservation is cancelled after expiration date, the Suite award will be forfeited. Upgrade must be requested and redeemed at time of reservation and is subject to availability. Upgrade confirmation will be provided at time of reservation. A complimentary suite upgrade is only valid on paid stays/nights, when paying an Eligible Rate for a maximum of 7 consecutive nights. Member must call 800.400.2261 or their nearest worldwide reservation center to redeem upgrade award. Upgrade awards are not available at Hyatt Regency Kyoto, Hyatt Regency Paris-Madeleine, Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort, Park Hyatt Maldives, Park Hyatt Sydney, Hyatt Place properties, Hyatt House properties, Hyatt Summerfield Suites properties or Hyatt Residence Club resorts. For purposes of this award, a suite provides for one-bedroom accommodations. Suite upgrade award is not valid toward Specialty, Premier, Presidential or Diplomatic Suites. Award is not transferable, negotiable or redeemable for cash or other substitutions. Credit will not be issued for unused upgrade awards. Guest is responsible for all charges exclusive of awards. There are limited numbers of suites available at each property. Hyatt reserves the right to alter or withdraw this program at any time without notice.
