Wyndham Rewards Introduces Gold Status – Free Nights/Bonus Points For Every 20 Nights

Wyndham has just introduced Gold status in their Wyndham Rewards program and sent out an email to their program members. You can access Wyndham’s web page for this new status here.

The email advertises one free night for every 20 nights stayed but with an asterix (*).

They won’t actually give you a free night, but rather deposit points to your account depending of your average spend over those 20 nights.

Here’s what you get:

– 6000 bonus points for average spend of $100 or less

– 10000 bonus points for average spend between $100.01 and $150

– 20000 bonus points for average spend of more than $150.01

You can use these points ONLY towards free nights at hotels and they expire within 4 months of issuance. You can combine them with regular points in your account.

Not sure why Wyndham is advertising this as a free night, as there are Wyndham Rewards properties requiring 25K and 30K rewards points per night that is higher than the number of bonus points Wyndham deposits for every 20 nights.

These points are in addition to the number of points that you earn regularly from your stays. There doesn’t seem to be any status related benefits at the property level for staying 20+ nights at their properties.

The number of these bonuses is capped at 3 per year after 60 nights.

It is good that Wyndham is trying to rewards those that stay more at their properties, but why not issuing a totally FREE night certificate that can be used at ANY of their properties rather than bonus points?

Here are the terms and conditions of this Gold status:
