Lowered Priority Club (IHG Rewards Club) Gold & Platinum Qualification Requirement

Yesterday, IHG made an announcement about scrapping the Priority Club Rewards name and introducing IHG Rewards Club. I wrote an article about this change that you can access here.

Part of the new enhanced benefits package, is the lowered qualification for both Gold and Platinum status for those that frequent 3 or more IHG brand. It was unclear, however, what the lowered requirements would be.

Priority Club Gold & Platinum qualification requirement as of July 2013:

Gold Elite status = stay 15 qualifying nights or earn 20,000 qualifying points OR you can stay a combination of 10 qualifying nights at 3 different IHG brands.

Platinum Elite status = stay 50 qualifying nights or earn 60,000 qualifying points OR you can stay a combination of 40 qualifying nights at 4 different IHG brands. The number of brand requirement for Asia/Oceania is 3.

You can easily get a Priority Club (IHG Rewards Club) Platinum status by signing up for complimentary Le Club Accorhotels Platinum status (read more here) and then matching the status to Priority Club Platinum (read more here).

It is good that Priority Club/IHG Rewards Club is introducing more benefits for their Gold and Platinum members. They should honor all the benefits on award stays, club level upgrade to Platinum members and/or complimentary breakfast. All the others (Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton & SPG) chains are offering these benefits for their top tier members.
