Will Marriott & Hyatt Start Counting Award Nights Towards Status Qualification?

Hilton, InterContinental Hotels Group (soon) and SPG are all counting consumed award nights towards their loyalty program qualification requirements. Would it now finally be the time for Hyatt and Marriott to start counting them as well?

Hilton has counted the award nights to yearly qualification requirement as far as I can remember. Starwood did the switch couple of years ago and IHG announced the other day that they will star count them later this year.

What do you think? Should hotel programs count award nights for status qualification purposes? Leave your comments below.

Hotel programs tend to copy features from each others and this counting of award nights towards the qualification requirement is becoming staple feature of these programs.

Maybe we see Marriott and Hyatt launching this feature n 2014?
