Bali Hyatt in Sanur is closing on July 31, 2013, for renovation that is expected to last for 18 months. Considering how timely renovations usually are and the current condition of this property, it could take a lot longer.

According to the on property management, there are plans to introduce the current Bali Hyatt as an Andaz and as a separate Hyatt property diving the current hotel in two separate brands.

I am not 100% convinced that the Sanur is the right place for an Andaz type property that is more aligned with W brand and should be in more urban location. The W Bali is in Seminyak that is within short walk to the bars in Kuta.

Conclusion

It is interesting to see what will come out of this renovation. I have been there few times in the past couple of years and have slowly started to like the property. The physical condition of the property left a lot to be desired.

The location only works if you are planning to spend most of the time there, as it is too faraway from the “center” of Bali.
