Etihad has a promotion for 5000 bonus miles for signing up BusinessConnect program. The program is intended for small companies that don’t have discount contract with the airline. Etihad sent out an email regarding this program today and you can access it here.
Etihad BusinessConnect allows the company earn miles for the flights that the employee takes. The employee continues to earn the usual number of miles to his/her personal Etihad Guest account.
The number of miles that are credited to BusinessConnect account is dependent of the ticket fare class of the traveler and varies between 30% to 60%.
Note that there is a separate chart for flights taken on or with conjunction of Air Berlin flights. Then there is a higher payout of 40% to 75% for BusinessConnect accounts registered in the UK and lower percentage of 30% to 50% for account in Switzerland. Not sure why they have different chart just for these two countries.
The minimum number of travelers you need to have for BusinessConnect account is 2 and the maximum number that you can have under account is 50.
The BusinessConnect miles can be used the same way as usual Etihad Guest miles; for free flights, upgrades & rewards shop.
Most of the airlines have similar programs targeting smaller companies that don’t bring enough business for official discount contract. Emirates has similar program that is tied to the price of the tickets and not the miles flown. There is really no downside for signing up or this program.
