Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond members have had a choice of 1000 bonus points or food and beverage amenity (usually cheese plate & bottle of wine) at Hyatt properties in North America. Internationally there has not been a choice, however. You were offered food and beverage amenity that could be as little as three apples or couple of bananas. I wrote last week that this is apparently changing unannounced, as international properties had started to offer the same amenity choice.
Now, Hyatt Gold Passport have made the above announcement on a FlyerTalk post. All international properties must offer a choice between a 1000 bonus points or food and beverage amenity.
And remember that in case of Diamond amenity points of NOT posting and you having to contact Gold Passport to have them add it manually, you will be eligible for additional 500 points for the inconvenience of having to chase it.
Conclusion
The lack on Diamond amenity at international properties was one of the reasons why I decided not to qualify for Diamond status in 2012.
The number of points that you would earn from your Hyatt stays at international properties due to lack of good promotions and for not getting 1000 amenity points was lackluster.
