Now that we have established the number of points that you earn on average based on the spend as IHG Rewards Club Gold or Platinum member (see here) and as an Ambassador or Royal Ambassador member (see here) at IHG family of hotels hotels, it is time to have a look at the number of points that is required to get a free night/number of points earned per dollar.
Spend Requirement For A Free Night As IHG Rewards Club Gold & Platinum
Here I took an average number of points required for a free night at number of metropolitan cities around the world and divided that by number of points earned per dollar at Gold and Platinum levels both with and without the IHG’s Chase affiliated Visa credit card. The “Free w CC” includes the 10% rebate that the IHG Visa card holders get on hotel award redemptions.
Spend Requirement For A Free Night As IHG Rewards Club Gold Ambassador & Royal Ambassador Member
As IHG has two separate programs, although both collect IHG Rewards Club points, I did a separate spreadsheet for Gold and Royal Ambassador members. The credit card column includes the 10% redemption rebate for credit card holders.
We have only two programs left; Marriott Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest before it is time for program comparisons on earning and burning points. These are coming before the end of the month.
