US Airlines Collected $3.5 Billion In Baggage & $2.55 Billion In Change Fees In 2012

There was an interesting piece on Chicago Tribune yesterday about the baggage and change fees that the US airlines had collected in 2012 that was released by DOT (Department of Transportation) on Tuesday. You can access the piece here.


The amount of changes fees that i.e. United collected in 2012 doubled from 2011.


The amount of “fees” that the airlines collect from traveling public are exempt of the Federal Excise tax that is used to fund the FAA. I wrote about the FAA funding woes last week and you can access that article here.
