Air France-KLM just changed (upped) the number of miles required for award tickets in premium economy, business and first class tickets by up to 60%. You can read my take about this devaluation here and the before/after combined award charts here.
Now Air France has a promotion for 50% discount on number of miles required for first class award tickets (La Premier) on all other than North America routes for travel between July 1 and September 15, 2013, that are ticketed between June 1 and June 30, 2013. You can access Flying Blue’s web page for promo awards here.
The travel period seems to consist of mainly the European summer holiday period, when the business and first class loads must be on the lighter side due to reduced business travel.
Quick reminder. The number of miles require for first class awards on Air France even after 50% discount is absolutely ridiculous amount. 130,000 miles for a oneway first class ticket from Europe to Far East? Certainly it is a reduction from the usual 260,00 miles, but doubt that there are that many people to bite on these offers.
Here’s the list of discounted destinations:
Here’s the tax breakdown for CDG-PVG in La Premiere
The tax for this route is $113 + $266 in fuel surcharges.
Although it is good that Air France’s La Premier First Class is now available for awards and even at the promo awards level, the number of miles required for a first class redemption is still completely ridiculous.
