Hilton HHonors and Virgin Atlantic have had this promotion for quadruple miles for stays at participating hotels in London and Scotland since March 31. This offer is coming to an end on June 30. You can read my original piece about this offer here.
Hilton and Virgin launched this offer to celebrate the new domestic air service called Little Red that Virgin got Heathrow slots for after British Airways bought the competing BMI last year.
I have mentioned the lucrativeness of this promotion several times on my monthly promo updates and that I am likely to take advantage of this by myself. I had couple of weeks to spare this June, so I decided to pay a visit to Scotland and check out the Glasgow (where I am right now), Aberdeen (where I will be this coming weekend) and have a quick look at the Edinburgh as well (hopefully next week).
The rates at the Hilton hotels in Glasgow and Aberdeen are very low during the weekends (not so in Edinburgh) and there are similarly low rates, especially during the weekends, in London area as well.
So, I have been earning 4000 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles and 3000 to 4000 Hilton HHonors points for each of my stays. You will receive Hilton HHonors bonus points for the Daily Grand promotion as well.
If you don’t have use for Flying Club miles, you can always later convert them back to Hilton HHonors points at the ratio of ONE Virgin mile to TWO Hilton points.
If you don’t have Hilton HHonors Gold status or if you are very close to earning Diamond status, it could be worthwhile to do few staycations over the weekends to rack up the number of Hilton stays. I doubt that there would be as good offer later in the year to get Hilton to practically pay for your stays.
You can sign up for the Hilton HHonors Gold fast track offer that requires just 4 stays within 90 days (read more here).
I have had a blast here I Glasgow and getting Hilton HHonors Diamond requalification stays in early in the year while earning a lots of Virgin Atlantic miles and Hilton HHonors in the process doesn’t hurt at all.
