SPG Gold Status After One Stay In Asia For World & World Elite MasterCard Holders

The promotion for complimentary SPG Gold status in the Asia Pacific region after one stay has returned. This offer is targeted to World or World Elite MasterCard holders and this time you need to input the first six digits of the card number to enroll for this promotion. Last time just signing up for the promotion was enough.

This offer is valid until July 13, 2015, and you can access SPG’s website for this offer and register here.

Whine Wednesdays: “Forced” Donations OK Or Not?

This is a new series called Whine Wednesdays that is not about me whining about wines (maybe if an airline serves non-Champagne sparkling wine as champagne), but rather some travel related issues that annoy me. These semi-forced donations that some hotels (mainly SPG ones in Asia) try to automatically collect is 3 on the 1 to 10 annoyance scale.

Hotels outside of the Starwood ones in Asia don’t normally do this, but I came across this last week at the Hilton Aberdeen TreeTop hotel in Scotland. They had this display on the front desk that they were automatically adding a pound to each hotel folio to support Hilton Foundation.

IHG Rewards Club Promotion: Platinum 5000 Points Bonus

IHG Rewards Club has a promotion for 5000 points for Platinum. I didn’t write about this earlier because the similar promotion in 2012 allowed you to register, but didn’t post at all. I did include this on my IHG Rewards Club Summer 2013 Promotion Guide under promotions that may work.

I can now confirm that this promo really does work. I had the 5000 bonus points posted to my account yesterday.
