Marriott Rewards has just added a new airline partner in the Middle East: Saudia that is also known as Saudi Arabian Airlines that is a member of the SkyTeam alliance.
You can now earn Saudia’s Alfursan miles for all your Marriott family of hotels stays. You can read more about this partnership on Marriott’s website here.
If you designate Saudia’s Alfursan as your airline partner and choose to earn airline miles instead of points, the number of miles that you earn is dependent of the Marriott brand that you are staying at. Note that some brands only earn miles based on the room cost and nothing for the incidentals such as spa treatments or F&B.
– You can earn 2 miles per USD spent at: JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaissance, Marriott Hotels & Resorts and Marriott Vacation Club locations.
– You can earn 2 miles per USD on room rate only at: the Ritz-Carlton, EDITION and Gaylord hotels.
– You can earn 1 mile per USD on room rate only at AC Hotels, Courtyard, Fairfield Inn & Suites, SpringHill Suites, Residence Inn, TownPlace Suites & Marriott Executive Apartments.
Conversion of Marriott Rewards Points to Alfursan Miles
I would not use this conversion table to convert Marriott Rewards points to Alfursan miles. The conversion rate is not favorable.
Marriott Travel Packages with Alfursan Miles Component
Marriott Travel Packages are the best way to use Marriott Rewards points by having a 7 night hotel award and fixed variable number of miles component at various points prices. You can read my article about Marriott Travel Packages here.
This is good news for Saudia’s Alfursan members that now can use their Marriott Rewards points to get some miles from Marriott affiliated hotel stays. It is likely that we will see a some sort of bonus miles offer to celebrate this new partnership.
