InterContinental Royal Ambassador Requalification Requirement: Three Different InterContinental Hotels

InterContinental Royal Ambassador is invitation only tier within IHG’s Ambassador program and it comes with very nice set of benefits (read more here).

The renewal or qualification requirements are not published anywhere, but they are believed to be a set number of InterContinental Hotels Group nights of which most should be at IC’s (50 to 70), three different InterContinental Hotels and you must have signed & paid to join the Ambassador program. You can read more about qualifying/requalifying for Royal Ambassador status here.

LoyaltyLobby reader sent me an email about his InterContinental Hotels Group stay activity that I thought would be a slam dunk for Royal Ambassador renewal, but turned out that there is a problem indeed:

– Around 160 total InterContinental Hotels Group nights

– 102 InterContinental nights but only 60 of those were qualifying ones due to some award nights and special rates that are not eligible for stay/night credit

But here’s the problem:

– Only two InterContinental hotels where he had had qualifying stays

The person, who emailed me, had only had qualifying stays at two different InterContinental hotels and you need at least three. The qualification would have most certainly come through if he had had at least one night stay at third InterContinental hotel.

This is very important lesson for those that stay at InterContinental hotels and wish to renew their Royal Ambassador status or to have their Ambassador one upgraded. You need point qualifying stays with at least three different InterContinental hotels.
