This week, I decided to check the new Holiday Inn Bangkok that is located on the Sukhumvit Soi 22. At the check in, I was presented the following letter explaining the Platinum benefits.
So, what are the REAL Platinum benefits at this location?
– 4PM check out that is good
– One category room upgrade – can you eve tell one category upgrade?
And that’s about it. The internet is complimentary for all guests.
So, at the time of check in, I had word with one of the managers and whether they understood the competitive landscape in Bangkok. At the very minimum, they should offer a breakfast for Platinum members. This property doesn’t have an executive/club lounge.
Why would I stay at the Holiday Inn hotel, when I could stay at Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott or Starwood property at roughly the same price and with much better elite guest treatment including lounge access, breakfast and possibly a suite upgrade?
I do understand if the hotel’s target market is going to be group tours, selling via OTA’s and opaque channels etc. that they don’t necessarily need IHG Rewards Club Platinum member. But then why flag the property under the InterContinental Hotels Group at all?
