Le Club Accorhotels is the only chain that lets you to sign up at the Platinum level by using specific links. These offers are usually targeted to certain credit card holders, but the links are in the open internet and anyone can use them.
There are few caveats that you should be aware of:
1. You cannot use an email address that has previously or currently is on file with Accor / A Club / Le Club Accorhotels to open a new account.
2. You should not have duplicate accounts under same name at the same address.
3. You should not contact customer service to merge accounts or for any other reason.
The email above is from LoyaltyLobby reader that had contacted the customer service to merge accounts, although I have previously advised against doing this. Accor closed his account.
If you have an old account that has some points, you should use the points first for a hotel voucher or convert the points to airline miles. You can move any amount of points without minimums to an airline program by following my instructions here.
You can then sign up for a new one at the Platinum level. It could be a good idea to have those points to convert to airline miles automatically as well to ensure that you won’t lose anything.
You have to make sure that you follow the three points above to ensure that you don’t have problems with Le Club Accorhotels. I don’t want anyone to lose points they have earned!
