Etihad Airways has introduced Flying Nanny-program of specialty trained cabin crew members whose job is to assist parents with their children to make the flying bit easier for families.
These Flying Nannies are dressed in orange apron that is easily distinguishable from other crew members. Here’s what these nannies will do according to Etihad:
- Begin assisting you right from the boarding gate, all the way until you and your family are comfortably seated on the plane
- Help onboard with the preparation of bassinets for babies
- Look after unaccompanied minors
- Keep children entertained while you’re enjoying a nap, in-flight meal or entertainment
There are other Middle Eastern airlines that are already providing this kind of service. I remember seeing Gulf Air’s marketing material that had onboard nannies too. You can access Etihad’s web page for family offerings here.
It should be the parents that take care of their children onboard, but I guess that it is good that Etihad I helping those that are unable to do that.
Many airlines do provide play sets for children to keep them occupied during flights, but seems that Etihad’s offering is more comprehensive.
