America Airlines & Qatar Frequent Flier Partnership Commencing On September 23?

Oneworld alliance made an announcement earlier this week that Qatar Airways would become full alliance member on October 30, 2013 (read more here).

British Airways and Qatar Airways frequent fliers have been able to collect miles on each others flights from the beginning of September.

Now, American Airlines have indicated on their Facebook post that earning and redeeming miles on Qatar Airways flights would become possible on September 23, 2013.

It is unlikely that you could earn, however, EQP’s (Elite Qualifying Points) or EQM’s (Elite Qualifying Miles) on Qatar Airways flights (unless on AA codeshare) before the airline is full member.

It is interesting that both BA and AA are going to have the earning and redeeming on Qatar Airways enabled before the airline is full Oneworld alliance member considering that this will happen at the end of next month.
