Le Club Accorhotels has been revamping its website and also made some unannounced changes to the conversion rates from points to miles that will likely upset many.
You can access Le Club Accorhotels web page for airline conversions here.
Here are the new conversion tables with changes:
Iberia Avios From 1:1 to 2:1 = Devalued by 50%
Qantas Frequent Flyer From 1:1 to 5:4 = Devalued by 20%
Cathay Pacific Asia Miles From 2:1 to 5:4 = Revalued by 60% (Good)
Thai Royal Orchid Plus From 2:1 to 5:4 = Revalued by 60% (Good)
Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer From 2:1 to 5:4 = Revalued by 60% (Good)
Air China PhoenixMiles From 5:4 to 2:1 = Devalued by 37.5%
Here are the old conversion tables for reference:
I don’t think that it is a coincidence that the conversion of Le Club Accorhotels points to Cathay Pacific, Thai and Singapore Airlines miles was improved by 60%. All the hotel chains are trying to attract more Asian clientele and expanding rapidly in APAC.
The Avios collectors are really being hurt here. This is the second devaluation of Le Club Accorhotels points to Iberia Avios this year. It started at 2 points to 5 Avios at the turn of the year and was lowered to one Avios per one point in March.
Now, you would need 10 points to get the same 5 Avios. This is a devaluation of whopping 80% within 6 months if you have been converting Le Club Accorhotels points to Avios.
