Earlier this week, Emirates briefly had Virgin America on its Skywards partner airline list. The airline was deleted from the partner list the following day, however.
Emirates and Virgin America have had interline agreement in place since 2010. Interline agreement merely means that websites and travel agents can sell tickets that have flights on both airlines and that luggage can be checked through.
Most of the full service airlines have interline agreements in place with each other

The airline was added on September 29 and withdrawn on September 30, 2013.
I tweeted both Emirates and Virgin America about this. Virgin America promised to let me know when they know.
Emirates already have frequent flier partnership in place with Alaska and JetBlue in the United States. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Virgin America added to the list.
All the Virgin-airlines are run separately. Virgin Australia is in bed with Etihad and Virgin Atlantic with Delta.
