American Airlines has added a new AAdvantage redemption partner for flights out from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to select destinations served by Seaborne Airlines.
American Airlines used to fly on their own or American Eagle metal out from San Juan to many Caribbean destinations, but all these routes have been gutted in the past year or so. American still continues to fly their mainland hubs (Miami, New York, Chicago and Dallas) and Caracas in Venezuela.
American Airlines award travel is available to/from Dominica, Fort de France, Pointe a Pitre, Tortola, Vieques, and Virgin Gorda. There are some other destinations served by Seaborne, but those are not available for award travel.
You can use Seaborne flights with combination of any AAdvantage participating airline. You have to call to have any of these Seaborne operated booked.
It is good that American now has a new partner for Caribbean award travel after gutting their San Juan hub.
