Hilton HHonors made an announcement early November that the Points & Miles Fixed Miles-option would end on January 6, 2014 (read more here). The last day to earn under the Fixed Miles is January 5.
EDIT: The information received from Hilton was incorrect. See the update below:
UPDATE: Hilton HHonors Double Dip Fixed Miles Only Partners (Converting To Variable Miles)
Double Dip-program has partners that only participate to the Variable or Fixed Miles, although most participate to both.
Seems that those partners that are only available as Fixed Miles option, cease to be part of the program on January 6, 2014 per the communication below that LoyaltyLobby reader forwarded to me:
As Points and Variable Miles is not an option for members with Eurobonus accounts the change will mean that you are no longer able to earn miles for your Hilton stays. You may, if you wish, change your option to Points and Points so that you earn a 50% bonus on all your base points per each stay.
Airlines that are affected:
Aerolineas Argentinas
Airberlin
Deutsche Bahn
Finnair
SAS
Turkish
Air China
JAL
Qantas
Virgin Australia
If the airlines above don’t decide to participate to the variable miles, you can no longer double dip them.
Conclusion
Hilton HHonors renders the entire Double Dip-program essentially worthless by ending the Fixed Miles-option. After the change, it is very difficult for me to see that any other choice than Points + Points would make any sense.
