InterContinental Royal Ambassador is an invitation only status level within the Ambassador program. The company line is that you need to be within the 1% of the members to be elevated to this status.
A LoyaltyLobby reader forwarded me an email from Ambassador service center that should finally clear this issue:
We would like take this opportunity to share with you the criteria in achieving the Royal Ambassador status. Please know that an Ambassador member must be able to complete 60 total nights within the last 365 days wherein 20 nights must be made at 3 different InterContinental Hotels.
Reader had inquired about getting the status, as he thought to have enough nights:
Our records show that within the last 365 days you have completed 51 total qualifying nights, 15 of these nights were made at 4 different InterContinental Hotels. Hence, you still need 9 qualifying nights 5 of which must be made at any InterContinental Hotels and Resort.
Please note that your total nights earned is still subject to change depending on your stay activity within the coming days/ months.
Reader advised me that the IC records were incorrect, as he had had 27 IC nights at four different hotels.
Royal Ambassador requirements:
– Ambassador membership ($200 or 32,000 IHG Rewards Cub points – renewal $150 or 24,000 points)
– 60 nights (total) within the Ambassador membership year
– 20 nights at the InterContinental hotels
– 3 different InterContinental hotels
Again this year, I had to request Ambassador service center to manually review my account for Royal Ambassador renewal and it was extended.
So, it seems that 60 nights of which at least 20 must be at three different InterContinental hotels is the current Royal Ambassador requirement.
How did you get renewed this year? How many total nights, IC nights and how many different IC’s?
