Targeted American Airlines Instant Gold, Platinum & Executive Platinum Fast Track Offers (January 2014)

American Airlines has sent out (again) three different targeted offers for instant Gold, Platinum or Executive Platinum status with upgrades through May 31, 2014, and fast track offer for keeping the status through February 28, 2015, for reaching the flight goal.

The Gold offer comes with 10 500-mile upgrades and the Platinum one with 20. Executive Platinum offer includes unlimited domestic upgrades (no need for 500-mile upgrades).

The offer code for Gold is HVFG1 and the Platinum one HVFP1. I don’t have the offer code for Executive Platinum offer (please email me if you do). This offer is discussed on Fatwallet (here) and on FlyerTalk (here and here).

Note that you cannot register for this offer unless you were targeted for it. Last year American had an open offer for all (read more here) and you can always take advantage of the paid challenge option (read more here).

The Gold offer requires 6,000 elite qualifying miles or points, Platinum version 12,000 and Executive one 30,000 by May 31, 2014, for extending the status to February 28, 2015.

The travel must be on American Airlines, American Eagle, American Connection, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines or Qantas to count towards the flight goal. Some (if not all) American Airlines coded flights operated by other airlines count towards this challenge. US Airways flights are also eligible.

Conclusion

If you have been targeted for any of these offers, there is absolutely no downside for accepting it. The only downside is that you need to fulfill the regular Gold (25K) , Platinum (50K) or Executive Platinum (100K) flight requirement by the end of 2014 to have the status until 2016.

Similar offers that were done in the late spring 2013 had the status extended all the way to February 28, 2015, after meeting the challenge requirement.
