On Friday, I wrote (access here) about Etihad’s status match offer that they publicized on a newspaper advertisement and on their website.
Now, Etihad has changed the terms and conditions of this offer that would disqualify everyone without an UAE address to take advantage of it. All the other status match requirements are still the same.
Here are the requirements again:
You need to email the following info/documents to firstname.lastname@example.org:
• Scanned copy of the gold or higher tier card with the other airline.
• Scanned copy of the miles statement with the other airline.
• Etihad Guest membership number.
You can access this offer on Etihad’s website here.
You will also receive double miles in business and triple miles in first class for limited time after Etihad has processed your status match.
Note that in previous matches the comped Etihad Guest Gold status has been valid for full 24 months.
Last week, the terms and conditions of the 25,000 booking bonus offer were changed (access here) and now the same with this status match offer.
Seems that Etihad thinks that putting an ad to a Gulf newspaper (see above) would only draw status match requests from the country.

This offer is only valid for members based in the UAE. Offer is valid for applications received until 22 February 2014. Only applications received will all the required documents will be considered. Applications received with illegible scans of documents will not be considered. You will receive a confirmation mail informing the status of your application within one month of your application. This offer is also open to existing members of Etihad Guest. For existing Etihad Guest members, your current Etihad Guest Miles will be carried forward at the time of upgrade. Selection of members for tier upgrade is completely the discretion of Etihad Guest.
