Air France-KLM Flying Blue has a new promotion for buying miles between February 24 and March 3, 2014, and getting 30% bonus.
Non-elite members can purchase up to 40,000 miles in a calendar year and elite members no longer have any limit.
You can access this offer on Air France-KLM’s Flying Blue website here.
The price of a mile purchased under this offer is 1.92 euro cents.
Does it make sense to purchase Flying Blue miles at this price?
In most cases the answer is likely no. If you have some premium award in mind and the price by buying miles + all the taxes fees is a lot less, I would do it.
You should consider, however, buying some miles from US based programs such as AA or US that would likely be a better deal.
Also, Air France-KLM Flying Blue has had better promotions for buying miles. The last one was with staggered bonus of up to 50%.
I would only buy Flying Blue miles if you are very familiar with the program and know that you have good use for them.
