SAS Long-haul Economy “Enhancements” (Bring Own Liquids)

Back in February (access here), I wrote about enhancements that were coming to SAS’ long-haul flights that were turning dry for GO-fare class customers. Shortly SAS supposedly rescinded the changes.

Now, SAS has sent out emails about the catering “enhancements” waiting for passengers starting on March 30, 2014, and they ain’t pretty for economy fliers.

You can access SAS’ web page for these service level changes here.

Direct quote from SAS: One non-alcoholic drink with meals is included in SAS Go

For SAS Go passengers, a non-alcoholic drink will be served with meals and other beverages will be available for purchase from Our Café. Stay tuned for more changes to come!

So, you should get TWO free non-alcoholic drinks on a 10 hour flight to Asia.

You better water up properly before your flight and buy some liquids from the terminal if you are planning to take SAS long-haul flight in economy on or after March 30, 2014.

This has to be a new low for a “full” service carrier, right? I have never come across an established alliance member airline that would be charging for consuming more than one non-alcoholic beverage with their meals. Most of the quality airlines serve unlimited number of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages during the flights.
