American Airlines has an offer out for a maximum of 30% discount on the price of sharing miles between accounts by March 31, 2014. You can get 30% discount or sharing more than 41,000 mile.
You have to pay for moving the miles between accounts and American just gives you a small discount for the privilege.You can access this offer on AA’s web page here.
You pay 0.84 cents per mile for moving them between accounts at 50,000 mile level.
Offer like this makes absolutely no sense at all. You are just paying to move miles between accounts and it won’t generate more miles. American will just collect some cash.
You can just issue an award for somebody else from your account rather than wasting cash by transferring them. If someone is short of miles in his/her account, just wait for the next purchase bonus and buy them at the time.

Transactions are nonrefundable and nonreversible. AAdvantage accounts less than 14 days old are not permitted to Share miles. AAdvantage members must share at least 6,000 AAdvantage miles or more in a single transaction from the shareAAmiles® program beginning 12:00 am CT March 3, 2014, to 11:00 pm CT March 31, 2014, to be eligible for bonus miles. AAdvantage members must share between 6,000 and 25,000 AAdvantage miles in a single transaction from the share program to be eligible for the 20% discount off the mileage transfer cost. Members must share between 26,000 and 40,000 AAdvantage miles in a single transaction to be eligible for 25% discount off the mileage transfer cost. Members must share between 41,000 and 50,000 AAdvantage miles in a single transaction to be eligible for the 30% discount off the mileage transfer cost. Discount applies only to mileage transfer cost and does not apply toward the $35 transaction processing charge. Allow 3 business days for the AAdvantage miles transferred under the shareAAmiles program to be posted to the recipient’s AAdvantage account. There is no limit to the number of transactions allowed during the offer period. Each AAdvantage member is limited to sharing or receiving, in a calendar year, a combined total of no more than one-hundred thousand (100,000) AAdvantage miles. Miles transferred as part of the shareAAmiles program count against this total.
