Go! (Mesa) To Withdraw From Hawaii Market On April 1, 2014

Mesa is suddenly ending its go! Hawaii service after eight years on April 1, 2014.

Go! Intra Island Flights

The airline is giving quite a few reason for discontinuing the service from increased flying for United Airlines and doubling the price of fuel during the 8 year period.

You can read more about this on go!’s website here and on Pacific Business News article here.

The airline will rebook passenger on Hawaiian flights for travel between April 1 and June 30, 2014. Alternatively passengers can opt for a refund.

Those that have go! flights booked for departure after June 30, 2014, will receive a refund from the airline. Mesa will not rebook them on other airlines.

Conclusion

Less competition is always bad for the consumer, although go! doesn’t seemed to have been loved in the islands. Mesa has been one my least favorite United Express carriers and is often referred as messy.
