Compensation Clinic this weeks visits the InterContinental Seoul Grand Parnas hotel where a LoyaltyLobby reader has come across a rusted iron (too late unfortunately).
Here’s the reader email:
I had a stay this week in the intercontinental Seoul Grand Parnas for a 1 night. I’m a PLT AMB with IHG.
In the morning getting ready for my meeting I used the in room Iron to have my shirt ready for the day, using the steam function I have noticed it made a rust stain on my shirt…….
I then made a check on the bed to make sure this is a stain from this Iron and as can see from the picture indeed it was (see pictures attached – sorry no pictures of the shirt but it looks the same).
I don’t normally do but decided to contact the duty manager and ask him to come with me to my room to see the damage to the shirt.
He immediately apologies for it and on the spot told me they will deduct 50,000 KOR (60,500 with the tax which is about $50) and that he will take it to dry cleaning.
Conclusion, shirt returned within 4 hours (as I was checking out that day) with no stains on it (like new) the promised compensation was taken off my bill.
You can access InterContinental Seoul Grand Parnas website here.
This is a good reminder to use those hotel irons first for a white towel to check that there is no rust. I am glad that the hotel was very prompt at resolving the issue by offering a credit and dry cleaning the shirt.
