Many of the US based programs have goals for lifetime statuses on their programs (American Airlines, Delta and United) and seems that this is now expanding to other airlines as well.
Avianca LifeMiles announced yesterday that they were launching a CENIT program for lifetime Gold and Diamond status.
You can access LifeMiles website for this program here.
The requirements of the lifetime status are rather high:
You have to be 60 years or older, have been member of the loyalty program for a minimum of 15 years and have earned a million for Gold or two million miles for Diamond entirely on Avianca (Aerogal included) flights.
These lifetime programs overall are good if you fly a lot. I have lifetime Premier Gold from United and lifetime Platinum from American Airlines. I had no idea that I would eventually make it to the lifetime status in either of these two when I started with the programs.
