A LoyaltyLobby reader from South America forwarded me an email that he had received from GOL regarding Delta’s status match program.
It is weird that GOL that has its Smiles program (leftover from Varig) reminds that its corporate partner Delta (that also owns part of GOL) offers status matches for fliers that have elite status with other airlines.
The email just has links to Delta’s website (access here) about the status match offers for American Airlines and United frequent fliers, although they do match other airlines as well.
Maybe Delta is trying to get GOL’s Smiles members that are American or United frequent fliers to try their service as well? I really don’t see any other reason for GOL sending out this email that doesn’t really benefit them at all.
