US Airways has a 75% purchase bonus for buying or gifting Dividend Miles between April 15-30, 2014. There could be offers for 50% or 100% as well.
You can access US Airways web page for buying miles here, where you can check your bonus or eligibility for this offer.
The price of a mile under this 100% bonus offer is 2.15 cents each.
Does it make sense to buy Dividend Miles at 2.15 cents each?
US Airways has number of promotions yearly for buying, gifting, and transferring in points from hotel programs to Dividend Miles.
This 2.15 per mile offer could be worthwhile IF you can use them for premium international travel immediately. US Airways just had a transfer bonus that allowed you to essentially purchase 50,000 miles for $567.
Last week, I highly criticized American Airlines (where US Airways will end up soon) by devaluing their AAdvantage program without giving ANY prior notice.
I would only buy American Airlines or US Airways miles if I had immediate use for them. I don’t have any trust left for AA/US that they wouldn’t touch the other award charts as well without advance notice.
