Hyatt Gold Passport has launched a new campaign for buying up to 40,000 points (yearly limit) and getting maximum bonus of 20%.
This offer is valid for purchase made between May 4 and June 1, 2014.
You can access this offer on Hyatt’s website here.
The bonus is staggered per the table above and you must purchase 30,000 or more points to get the maximum 20%.
The price of 48,000 Gold Passport points is $960. That is exactly 2 cents per point.
Does it make sense to pay 2 cents per point?
You should only purchase points if you are 100% sure that you can save some cash by redeeming award or Points + Cash instead of paying for the stay outright.
Last time when Hyatt had the buy promo in the fall of 2013, the purchase bonus was 30% and the price of a point 1.85 cents each.
Starwood has bonus for buying Starpoints too (read more here) and you can easily convert them to airline miles later if needed at a reasonable rate (makes no sense with Hyatt).
