Marriott Rewards Getaway Bonus June 1 – August 31, 2014

Marriott Rewards today announced its summer 2014 promotion that is called “Getaway Bonus” and spans over Q2/Q3 from June 1 to August 31, 2014.

Marriott Rewards Getaway Bonus June 1 August 31 2014

There are four different targeted options from double points to bonus points. There are no free night certificate options this time around.

You can access Marriott’s website for Getaway Bonus here.

Here are the four options:

1. Double points starting from the 2nd stay for a maximum bonus of 25,000 points. (This is the default option)

2. 25,000 bonus points after 15 paid nights + another 10,000 points after 20 paid nights for a total bonus of 35,000 points.

3. 20,000 bonus points after 12 paid nights + another 10,000 points after 18 paid nights for a total bonus of 30,000 points.

4. 35,000 bonus points after 20 paid nights + another 10,000 points after 25 paid nights for a total bonus of 45,000 points.

If the targeted promotion doesn’t work for you, I have written a piece about how to get it changed (you can access it here). Marriott unofficially allows targeted promotions to be changed. I have done it by myself in the past.

It is sad to see that the free night certificates are not an option this time around. You basically must spend $2,500 at a full service property (starting from your second stays) to get enough points for a free night at category 5 property.

The above four options are for the US accounts and sometimes Marriott has had different version(s) for international ones. Please leave a comment below or send me an email if your targeted offer was different.

Here are the terms and conditions of the double points offer:

  • *A ‘stay’ is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/check-out activity.

  • Registration is required.

  • Marriott Rewards members who register for this promotion by July 31, 2014 will earn double points after the second paid stay – up to 25,000 bonus points for stays made between June 1 and August 31, 2014, at participating Marriott properties.

  • The member receiving this offer has been specifically targeted and the offer is not transferable.

  • Bonus points will be awarded to the member’s account within 3-5 business days after the qualifying stay.

  • Awards are not transferable and may not be given as a gift.

  • Nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for credit and Marriott Vacation Club® owner-occupied weeks are not eligible for credit.

  • Only one room per hotel is counted toward a member’s nights or stay.

  • Members electing to earn miles are not eligible for this promotion.

  1. It is indeed super frustrating that the reward certificates are not available. It seems like its an attempt yet again by big business to diminish what they actually give out in return for loyalty. I guess Ill register and take the point for any stays I wind up having, but this doesn’t in the least motivate me to stay there any more or spend any more there.

So in terms of a “promotion” thats designed to drive business for the company, its a complete fail in my book.

  2. It’s funny, because now with all of the category devaulations, most people seem to find little use for the 1-5 certificates. I’ll probably net about 10,000 points from 3 stays totaling 6 nights, but I kind of prefer the flexibility of points to the certificated with few options in major US cities.

  3. I’m a point-earning member in Asia and cannot access this promotion site, I’m afraid that might be not eligible for my account as stated on their error message.

  4. Are stays based on the check in or checkout date? I have an upcoming stay from Aug. 31 – Sept. 10. Would that be eligible for double points?

  5. Does that mean you get nothing for the first 2 stays? It says double points after 2 stays. That is unclear. It could man that after 2 stays you get double points for both the previous stays, or only double points on 3rd and subsequent stays.

  6. Can’t get into the promotion from the link here:

    A Note About This Promotion

We’re sorry, but there was an error in directing you to this promotion.

  7. I’m not too disappointed about the certs going away – since there’s no decent Cat 5 hotels left after the deval. (I’m doing a week vacation in Portland/Seattle/Vancouver this summer all on last years’ cat 5 certs – and all 3 hotels have now moved to Cat 6!)

Wondering though if the double points is on top of the plat 50% bonus. (I.e. I stay at a $300/night property, I get normally 3,000 pts + 1500 bonus + 500 at check in = 5,000. So with this would I get 10,000 – or just 6,000 plus the regular bonuses?

    • I actually have a Renaissance in Indiana that I go thats only Cat 4, its quite nice, just due to local. Also a Cat 5 Marriot that is quite nice (for marriot) in Indy as well. But yes with the deval most good hotels are now 6.

  8. USA-based Marriott Gold and getting “We’re sorry, but there was an error in directing you to this promotion.” error message as well.
