Hyatt Gold Passport had an offer for instant Platinum status and fast track to Diamond up and open for registration on Hyatt.com, although this offer was targeted for Microsoft employees. I wrote about this offer here, here and here.
Now, Hyatt has sent out an email “Important Information about Your Membership” to many and revoked the Platinum status and Diamond fast track offer.
You can access Hyatt’s website for this “enhanced” instant Platinum and Diamond fast track here.
The email is disingenuous by claiming that “you attempted to register” when in fact the registration was successful and the status was upgraded to Platinum.
But the truth of course is that the offer was targeted for Microsoft employees. Hyatt has added a new line to the terms and conditions of this offer that the offer registration must be done via Microsoft’s internal travel portal. Maybe they should have had this enabled in the first place.
If you have any status with competing hotel loyalty programs, Hyatt offers very easy Diamond match that gives you the status up front and has relatively easy number of nights requirement to keep it until 2016. You can read more about this offer here.
Sometimes these targeted match offers work for all and in this instance it didn’t. If Hyatt has targeted offers for instant status, maybe they should have IT resources in place to not to have the sign up on the open web.
