SPG has a bad habit of tinkering with the hotel award categories after releasing the yearly award category move list and they are always up!

Now, SPG has changed the award category of the Westin Los Angeles International Airport hotel from category 3 to 4 on May 29, 2014.

The change means that you now need 10,000 Starpoints for an award at this property instead of 7,000 points. This represents an increase of 43%.

Conclusion

I wish that all the hotel loyalty programs could stick to their once yearly devaluations and wouldn’t change them throughout the year as this doesn’t build any trust among the program members.
