HG Rewards Club changed the number of points that members earn from InterContinental stays outside of the Americas starting July 1, 2014 (read more here).
Members will earn 10 points per USD for rooms and other eligible spend compared to flat 2,000 points previously before any bonuses.
I had a stay posted to my account from an InterContinental hotel in Asia where I checked in on June 30th and checked out on July 1st.
Seems that the stay posted with both pre and post July 1 Royal Ambassador bonus, although the rate from where the 500 bonus posted is off by at least 20%.
So, this would imply that the IHG Rewards Club is continuing with both Platinum and Ambassador/Royal Ambassador bonus.
It is good to know that both Platinum and Ambassador/Royal Ambassador bonuses are continuing past-July 1, 2014 change. Seems that the revenue that hotels are reporting back to IHG are bit off and you must “audit” your point earnings to ensure proper point earnings.
