Le Club Accorhotels has been emailing out Platinum renewals emails this week to many that have no stays at all or only a handful.
Le Club Accorhotels spiced up the benefits associated with the Le Club status twice within the past year. You can read more about the changed instituted last year here and the ones that took place starting on July 1st here.

Le Club Accorhotels Platinum status usually requires 60 nights or 25,000 points earned.
Conclusion
Seems that Accor wants to keep the number of Platinum members constant and keeps renewing even those that signed up using the instant Platinum links that were available last year. It does make sense to keep renewing for those that have qualified to Platinum status but have had a drop in number of stays. I don’t expect this renewing to continue forever, however.
