Uber opened their API last week and both United and Hyatt (among other companies) have enabled the ability to order cars directly from their apps.
United Airlines has teamed up with Uber to offer first time users that sign up for the service through the app $30 ride credit + 1,000 bonus United MileagePlus miles.
You can read more about this partnership here.
It is unclear how long this offer is valid. The $30 first ride credit has been staple offer for a while and usually the referrer get $30 credit as well, but in this case United seems to rebate part of it by giving you 1,000 miles.
I almost tried the Uber service in Jakarta couple of months back when I met their launch team at one networking event. Well. Maybe I get to try their service at later this year.
Here are the terms and conditions of this offer:
Limited-time offer. Only MileagePlus members signing up for the Uber service for the first-time are eligible for the bonus miles offer. To earn 1,000 bonus miles, a MileagePlus member must use the United app to sign up for a new Uber account and complete the member’s first ride with Uber. MileagePlus members who have previously signed up for the Uber service are not eligible for the promotion. Offer is subject to change without notice. Other restrictions may apply.
