Hilton HHonors has launched a new Points + Miles airline partner that is AirAsia.
AirAsia BIG program members can earn 2 points per USD charged at Hilton family of hotels worldwide. The number of BIG points that can be earned at Hampton Inn, Homewood Suites and Home2 Suites is capped at 200 per stay.
You can access Hilton’s web page for airline partners here.
Hilton allows HHonors members to earn Points + Points or Points + Miles. If you choose the latter, you forgo earning 5 additional Hilton HHonors points per USD spend and earn airline/partner miles/points instead. This doesn’t affect the base earnings of 10 Hilton HHonors points per USD spend or any possible elite bonuses or other bonus offers.
Surely, there will soon be some bonus offers associated with AirAsia’s BIG program. As AirAsia is a limited service no frills carrier and the number of BIG points required for award flights must dependent of the price of these flights, you should calculate if it makes sense for you to earn 2 BIG points per USD instead 5 Hilton HHonors ones.
Can anyone let me know what is exactly the value of ONE BIG point when used towards AirAsia airfare? I asked this question from a friend of mine that works for AirAsia’s BIG loyalty program, but didn’t get a word back from him yet.
