SPG (Starwood Preferred Guest) Website Update & New Features (Account History & Stay Preferences)

Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) has refreshed their website this morning (as did LoyaltyLobby as well but more of that later).

SPG Website Update

The new website seems to have been developed more tablets and phones in mind than laptops/desktops that is bit of a letdown for those that tend to book for business.

You can access SPG’s website here.

Here are few new features that I found:

SPG Points History

This now goes back three previous years. You can check your SPG activity for 2011, 2012 and 2013 in addition to the current year. The history will also show the number of eligible nights that you have earned per stay.

Upcoming Stays

The upcoming stays tab now shows that you can request Your24 (need 75 nights for this) and other stay benefits.

Any Special Requests

When you click the request link on the upcoming stays, you can then change your stay preferences.

You can request an early check in starting from 5AM! This is obviously not guaranteed but at least you can indicate to the hotel that you are arriving early.

SPG Website Update Activity Upcoming Stays W Bangkok Any Special Requests Late Check Out

You can request late check out until 4AM. This must be more geared towards those that have the Your24 benefit. Don’t get it why my 4PM check out at W Bangkok would be “by request” when it is guaranteed at non-resort and non-conference hotels by default.

Not sure what I think about this Platinum Member Upgrade tab. Why doesn’t it indicate a suite there? It only refers to the “largest room”. Some “enhancements” coming our way?

You can then set your possible accessibility preferences and change your room type if needed. There is now plenty of space for special requests.

Conclusion

I have not yet made my mind about this website refresh, but should probably get used to it. Seems that most of the websites are becoming more geared towards tablets that I am not a huge fan off when mainly accessing them using a laptop.

How have you found the new website? Any other new features that I have missed?
