United Airlines has brought back its hotel points to airline miles conversion bonus for transfers made between October 28 – December 5, 2014.
United is offering 20% conversion bonus for combined transfers of 5,000 miles or more and has capped the bonus miles at 25,000.

Eligible Conversion Partners:
It doesn’t make any sense to convert Marriott Rewards points to airline miles without going to travel package route that can get you a 7 day reward at a hotel + 120,000 airline miles for 270,000 Marriott Rewards points.
If you redeem a Travel Package at the 120,000 MileagePlus level, the Rewards Plus partnership will bump it up by 10% and then you will get the maximum 25,000 bonus miles under this odder for a total of 157,000 MileagePlus miles.
The conversion rate of Hilton HHonors to United Airlines MileagePlus miles is 10:1. Doesn’t make any sense. You can access Hilton’s page for points to miles conversions here.
Wyndham Rewards devalued the points to miles conversion by 100% earlier this year. You can now convert 5 points for an airline miles. You can access Wyndham Rewards web page for points to miles conversions here.
You can redeem 5,000 Choice Privileges points for 1,000 airline miles. You can access Choice’s web page for these conversions here.
Hyatt Gold Passport
You can convert Hyatt Gold Passport points to airline miles at the 2.5:1 ratio. Conversions of 50,000 points to miles receive 5,000 bonus miles. You can access Hyatt’s web page for conversions here.
100,000 Club Carlson points converts to 10,000 airline miles that is extremely poor value. You can access Club Carlson’s conversion page here.
IHG Rewards Club
You can redeem 10,000 IHG Rewards Club points to 2,000 United MileagePlus miles. You can access IHG’s web page for conversions here.
Shangri-la Golden Circle
You can convert Golden Circle points at 1:1 ratio starting at 2,500 minimum points. You can access Golden Circle’s page for conversions here.
Considering how devalued most of these hotel points to airline miles conversion have become and the UA’s award chart changes, the best value is to use hotel points to actual hotel points.
I am, however, big proponent of using Marriott Rewards points for Travel Packages. Redeeming a 270,000 Marriott Rewards points travel package, would get you one week at Cat 1-5 hotels and 157,000 United miles.
