Last Thursday, I transited for the very first time through the new airport in Doha. I had only seen the Premium Terminal previously (quite a few times), but the bussing around from/to planes was getting very tiresome.
The business class lounge looked tastefully done for a Middle Eastern airport and I was surprised the qualify of the adult beverages offered.
The first class lounge is not yet open that might be the reason why they were pouring champagnes that Qatar served on my regional first class segment from Cairo to Doha.
I remember the times when Singapore Airlines had the Champagne Bar on its first class lounge that was pouring Dom Perignon day and night.
Qatar Airways serves the non-vintage Krug as the default champagne currently on the Doha lounge. Also the vodka (Grey Goose or could have been Belvedere) is better than what you tend to see.
I probably drank a bottle of the Krug during my two hour transit and had couple of cocktails as well. Surprisingly, there were quite a few drinking Heineken and Coors that wouldn’t be my first beer choices.
