Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) and Emirates have now announced their Your World Rewards partnership that I wrote about a week ago (access here).

SPG Gold and Platinum members receive certain benefits when flying on Emirates and Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold and Platinum elites receive benefits when staying at Starwood affiliated hotels.

– SPG Gold and Platinum members receive ONE Starpoint per USD spent on Emirates flights

– SPG Platinum members receive priority check in and priority boarding on Emirates flights

Emirates Elite Benefits On Starwood Stays

– Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold and Platinum members earn one mile per USD spent on Starwood stays

– Emirates Skywards Gold and Platinum members receive 4PM guaranteed check out at non-resort and conference center locations, complimentary internet and priority check in

Conclusion

Your World Rewards benefits are almost identical to those of Crossover Rewards between SPG and Delta.

Emirates Skywards Gold and Platinum members basically receive SPG Preferred Plus benefits (Gold lite) and SPG Platinum members receive priority check in and boarding on Emirates flights.

It is certainly nice to earn some bonus Starpoints for those Emirates flights that I take, but that pretty much summarizes the benefits that I’ll receive from this partnership.

How can I register for Your World Rewards™?

Starting November 19, 2014, if you are an active SPG® Member and have an Emirates Skywards® account, you may register to participate in Your World Rewards through spg.com/yourworldrewards or emirates.com/yourworldrewards.

Can I opt out of Your World Rewards at any time?

Yes. If you are registered to participate in Your World Rewards, you may opt out of Your World Rewards at any time by calling the SPG Customer Contact Centre or by logging in to your Emirates Skywards account.

Who is eligible to register for Your World Rewards?

An active SPG Member who has an Emirates Skywards® account under the same name is eligible to register for Your World Rewards, except for members who (1) are registered for the SPG Airline Direct DepositSM (ADD) program with any airline, or (2) have an SPG Employee-level account.

I am currently not an SPG Platinum or Gold Elite Member or an Emirates Skywards Platinum, Gold or Silver Member. Can I still register for Your World Rewards?

Yes, as long as you are an active SPG Member and have an Emirates Skywards account, you are eligible to register (starting November 19, 2014) for Your World Rewards unless you (1) are registered for the SPG Airline Direct Deposit (ADD) programme with any airline, or (2) have an SPG Employee-level account.

Does registering for Your World Rewards keep my SPG account from becoming inactive?

No. Please see the Terms and Conditions of the SPG Program to determine ways that you may keep your SPG account from becoming inactive.

I tried to register to participate in Your World Rewards through spg.com/yourworldrewards, but I have been unable to complete my registration. What do I do?

Starting November 19, 2014, if your attempt to register to participate in Your World Rewards through spg.com/yourworldrewards fails, the website will provide you with a reason (e.g., the name on your SPG Member account does not match the name on your Emirates Skywards account or your SPG account is inactive). Please contact the SPG Customer Contact Centre or fill in the ‘Contact us’ form on emirates.com to resolve the problem based on the message you received.

Can I register for Your World Rewards if I am enrolled in the SPG Airline Direct Deposit (ADD) programme?

No. SPG Members who are opted in to the Airline Direct Deposit programme cannot register for Your World Rewards. To deactivate ADD, an SPG Member must call the SPG Customer Contact Centre.

Can I register for Your World Rewards if I am registered for Crossover Rewards™?

Yes. Starting November 19, 2014, an SPG Member can register for both Your World Rewards and Crossover Rewards, but he or she must elect whether to earn Skywards Miles or miles in the Delta SkyMiles Program for stays at SPG-participating hotels by visiting spg.com/myairlinepartner. How do I change my miles-earning preference if I am enrolled in both Crossover Rewards and Your World Rewards?

What benefits do I receive if I am registered for both Your World Rewards and Crossover Rewards?

An SPG Member who is an SPG Platinum or Gold Elite Member and meets the eligible criteria will receive bonus Starpoints® when flying on eligible Delta and Emirates flights. In addition, an SPG Member who is an SPG Platinum Elite Member will receive Your World Rewards in-airport benefits when flying with Emirates Airlines and Crossover Rewards in-airport benefits when flying with Delta Airlines.

If I am an elite member with both Delta and Emirates, do I earn double bonus miles when staying with SPG?

No. An SPG Member who also is an Elite Member of both the Emirates Skywards program and the Delta SkyMiles Program will need to elect whether he or she wants to earn Skywards Miles or miles in the Delta SkyMiles Program for stays at SPG-participating hotels by visiting spg.com/myairlinepartner. EARNING STARPOINTS & MILES

If I am registered for Your World Rewards, how many Starpoints do I earn for an Eligible Flight?

If you are registered for Your World Rewards, you are an SPG Platinum or Gold Elite Member, and you book an Eligible Fare on an Eligible Flight (a flight that is operated by Emirates under the designator EK), then — in addition to the Skywards Miles you already earn — you will also earn one Starpoint for every one U.S. dollar or its foreign equivalent spent on Eligible Fares (excluding taxes and fees).

How soon are Starpoints I earn from an Eligible Flight deposited into my SPG Member account?

If you are registered for Your World Rewards and are an SPG Platinum or Gold Elite Member, Starpoints that you earn for Eligible Flights will be posted to your SPG Member account within two to four weeks after the Eligible Flight is completed.

How soon are Skywards Miles that I earn for a Stay at an SPG Participating Hotel deposited into my Emirates Skywards account?

If you are registered for Your World Rewards, are an Emirates Skywards Platinum, Gold or Silver Member, and have elected to earn Skyward Miles for your Stay, miles will be posted to your Emirates Skywards account within two to four weeks after your Starpoints have been posted to your account for the Stay.

On which Emirates flights am I eligible to earn Starpoints?

Can Emirates Skywards Blue® members earn Skywards Miles through Your World Rewards for Stays at SPG-participating hotels?

No. If you are registered for Your World Rewards and you are an Emirates Skywards Blue member, you will not earn Skywards Miles for Stays at SPG-participating hotels through Your World Rewards.

Can Starwood Preferred Guest® members who are not elite members earn Starpoints through Your World Rewards for Eligible Flights?

No. If you are registered for Your World Rewards and you are not an SPG Platinum or Gold elite member, you will not be able to earn Starpoints on Eligible Flights through Your World Rewards.

Whom do I contact if I have not received Starpoints for an Eligible Flight or Skywards Miles for a Stay at an SPG-participating hotel?

Can I earn Starpoints and/or Skywards Miles for Eligible Flights and/or Stays at SPG–participating hotels I booked prior to registering for Your World Rewards?

Yes. If you are registered for Your World Rewards and meet the eligible criteria, you will be able to earn Starpoints for Eligible Flights and/or Skywards Miles for Stays at SPG-participating hotels if you registered for Your World Rewards at least 48 hours prior to taking an Eligible Flight and/or 48 hours prior to checking out of the SPG-participating hotel for a Stay regardless of when such stay was booked.

Will I earn Starpoints through Your World Rewards for flights operated by an Emirates codeshare or alliance partner carrier?

No. If you are registered for Your World Rewards and meet the eligible criteria to earn Starpoints, you will only earn Starpoints for flights marketed and operated by Emirates (which have an EK flight number).

If I fly on an Eligible Flight but use a frequent-flyer number other than my Emirates Skywards number (e.g., a Qantas airline loyalty program number), am I still eligible to earn Starpoints for that flight?

No. If you include a frequent flyer number for a loyalty program other than Emirates Skywards in your booking, you are not eligible to earn Starpoints for that flight even if you are registered for Your World Rewards and are a SPG Platinum or Gold Elite Member.

FLIGHT & STAY BENEFITS

If I am an SPG Gold Elite Member and an Emirates Skywards Platinum or Gold Member, do I get to choose a different welcome amenity at check-in since in-room Internet is now complimentary through Your World Rewards?

Yes. If you are registered for Your World Rewards and are an Emirates Skywards Platinum or Gold Member, you will receive complimentary in-room Internet during Stays through Your World Rewards, so you may choose a different welcome amenity (e.g., 250 bonus Starpoints) as an SPG Gold Elite Member.

As an SPG Platinum Elite Member, what benefits do I receive at the airport when I am flying on an Eligible Flight?

If you are registered for Your World Rewards and are an SPG Platinum Elite Member, you are eligible to receive Priority Check-In and Priority Boarding in connection with Eligible Flights in accordance with the Emirates Skywards Program Rules and the Your World Rewards Terms and Conditions.

As an Emirates Skywards Platinum or Gold Member, what benefits do I get for a Stay at an SPG-participating hotel?

If you are registered for Your World Rewards and are an Emirates Skywards Platinum or Gold Member, during a Stay at an SPG-participating hotel, you will have the ability to use the elite check-in line that is used for SPG Gold and Platinum Elite Members, 4 pm late checkout (subject to availability) and access complimentary guest room Internet in accordance with the Your World Rewards Terms and Conditions.

How soon will I start receiving in-hotel and/or in-airport benefits after I register for Your World Rewards?

If you meet the eligibility criteria for in-airport and/or in-hotel benefits as outlined in the Your World Rewards Terms and Conditions, you receive such benefits in connection with an Eligible Flight or a Stay at an SPG-participating hotel, if you registered for Your World Rewards at least 48 hours prior to taking an Eligible Flight and/or 48 hours prior to checking in to the SPG-participating hotel for a Stay.

If I am an Emirates Skywards Platinum or Gold Member, do I get to choose a different benefit if I am staying at an SPG-participating hotel that provides in-room Internet on a complimentary basis?

No. If an SPG-participating hotel provides in-room Internet on a complimentary basis, no substitute benefit will be provided to Emirates Skywards Platinum or Gold Members who are registered for Your World Rewards.

Here are the terms and conditions of the Your World Rewards:

By registering in Your World Rewards™ with SPG® and Emirates Skywards®, you agree to the Your World Rewards Terms.

These terms and conditions (the “Your World Rewards Terms”) govern Your World Rewards with SPG and Emirates Skywards (“Your World Rewards”). By registering for Your World Rewards (a “Your World Rewards Participant”) and receiving and redeeming benefits of Your World Rewards including, without limitation, Starpoints in the SPG Program and Skywards Miles in the Emirates Skywards programme, each registrant agrees that he/she has read, understood and accepted these Your World Rewards Terms. Starwood and Emirates Skywards may at any time amend, modify or supplement these Your World Rewards Terms, and continued participation in Your World Rewards will constitute a Your World Rewards Participant’s acceptance of any such amendment, modification, or supplementation.

  • 1. Registering for Your World Rewards.
  • 1.1 Eligibility. Registration for Your World Rewards requires membership in both the SPG Program and the Emirates Skywards programme and that an individual’s membership accounts in both programmes are under the same name. Membership into both programmes may be obtained for free at spg.com and emirates.com/skywards.
  • 1.2 Limitations on Eligibility. An individual that has an SPG Employee level account or that is registered for the SPG Airline Direct DepositSM (ADD) programme will not be eligible to register for Your World Rewards.
  • 1.3 Registration. An individual may register for Your World Rewards through spg.com/yourworldrewards or emirates.com/yourworldrewards only.
  • 1.4 Timing.
    • 1.4.a. Registration. An eligible Your World Rewards Participant will not able to earn Skywards Miles, earn Starpoints or receive Your World Rewards benefits under these Your World Rewards Terms (regardless of eligibility), until 48 hours after registration is completed.
      • • A Your World Rewards Participant that successfully registered for Your World Rewards at least 48 hours prior to checking out of a SPG Participating Hotel will earn Skywards Miles if the Your World Rewards Participant meets the requirements of Section 2, regardless of the date on which the Stay was booked.
      • • A Your World Rewards Participant that successfully registered for Your World Rewards at least 48 hours prior to taking an Eligible Flight will earn Starpoints if the Your World Rewards Participant meets the requirements of Section 3, regardless of the date on which the Eligible Flight was booked.
    • 1.4.b. Posting. Any Starpoints earned through Your World Rewards will post to an Emirates Skywards Member’s SPG Member account within 2 to 4 weeks after the Eligible Flight is completed. Any Skywards Miles earned through Your World Rewards will post to an SPG Member’s Emirates Skywards Member account within 2 to 4 weeks after Starpoints post for the Stay.
  • 1.5 Programme Terms.
    • 1.5.a. SPG Program. Unless otherwise specified in these Your World Rewards Terms, the terms and conditions of the SPG Program Terms apply to Your World Rewards.
    • 1.5.b. Emirates Skywards Programme. Unless otherwise specified in these Your World Rewards Terms, the terms and conditions of the Emirates Skywards Programme Rules apply to Your World Rewards.
  • 1.6 Member Numbers. An eligible Your World Rewards Participant will only be able to earn Skywards Miles, earn Starpoints or receive Your World Rewards benefits under these Your World Rewards Terms: (a) for Stays if the reservation includes the Your World Rewards Participant’s SPG Member number; and (b) for Eligible Flights if the reservation includes the Your World Rewards Participant’s Emirates Skywards membership number.
  • 1.7 Definitions. To the extent that terms are capitalised in these Your World Rewards Terms, the terms have the meanings specified in the SPG Program Terms or the Emirates Skywards Programme Rules, as applicable. This includes, without limitation, the definitions of SPG Participating Hotels, Eligible Nights, Stays, Eligible Rates, Eligible Charges, Gold Preferred Guest, Platinum Preferred Guest in the SPG Program Terms and the definitions of Silver, Gold and Platinum status in the Emirates Skywards Programme Rules.
  • 2. Earning Skywards Miles.
  • 2.1 Hotel Stays. A Your World Rewards Participant who is an Emirates Skywards Silver Member, Emirates Skywards Gold Member or Emirates Skywards Platinum Member in the Emirates Skywards programme will earn one Skywards Mile for every one US dollar or its foreign equivalent denomination spent on Eligible Rates during Stays at SPG Participating Hotels in addition to earning Starpoints in accordance with the SPG Program Terms if the reservation includes the Your World Reward Participant’s SPG Member account number and, where applicable, Skywards Miles is selected as the SPG Member’s preferred currency at the time the Stay is posted to the SPG Member’s account.
  • 2.2 Emirates Skywards Blue Members. An Emirates Skywards Blue member will not earn Skywards Miles through Your World Rewards for Stays at SPG Participating Hotels.
  • 2.3 Other Hotel Charges. A Your World Rewards Participant will earn Skywards Miles only for Eligible Rates during Stays at SPG Participating Hotels, and will not earn Skywards Miles for any other Eligible Charges at SPG Participating Hotels (e.g., food and beverage charges, laundry, valet) incurred by a Your World Rewards Participant during a Stay.
  • 3. Earning Starpoints.
  • 3.1 Eligible Flights and Eligible Fares. For purposes of Your World Rewards: (1) an “Eligible Flight” is a flight that is operated by Emirates under the designator EK; and (2) an “Eligible Fare” is any fare for an Eligible Flight that is eligible to earn Skywards Miles in the Emirates Skywards Programme Rules.
  • 3.2 Emirates Flights. A Your World Rewards Participant who is an SPG Gold Preferred Guest or an SPG Platinum Preferred Guest in the SPG Program will earn one Starpoint for every one US dollar or its foreign equivalent denomination spent on Eligible Fares (excluding taxes, fees and surcharges) on Eligible Flights in addition to earning Skywards Miles in accordance with the Emirates Skywards Programme Rules if the reservation includes the Your World Rewards Participant’s Emirates Skywards membership number.
  • 4. Elite Benefits.
  • 4.1 SPG Participating Hotels.
    • 4.1.a. Stays. A Your World Rewards Participant who has Emirates Skywards Gold or Emirates Skyward Platinum status in the Emirates Skywards programme will receive the following elite benefits during Stays at an SPG Participating Hotel if the reservation includes the Your World Reward Participant’s SPG Member account number:
      • • The ability to use the elite check-in line that is used by Gold Preferred Members and Platinum Preferred Members in the SPG Program;
      • • 4 p.m. late checkout, subject to availability at resort and conference centre SPG Participating Hotels; and
      • • Complimentary guest room Internet access.
    • 4.1.b. Restrictions. All services, amenities and benefits provided under Section 4.1.a, are subject to availability and subject to the terms and conditions of each SPG Participating Hotel. Not all services, amenities and benefits are offered at all SPG Participating Hotels.
    • 4.1.c. No Incremental Benefits. A Your World Rewards Participant who qualifies for elite benefits pursuant to Section 4.1.a and who is a Gold Preferred Member or Platinum Preferred Member in the SPG Program will not receive incremental benefits under this Section 4.1, provided that a Gold Preferred Guest may choose a welcome amenity other than complimentary guest room Internet access during a Stay.
  • 4.2 Eligible Flights.
    • 4.2.a. Eligible Flights. A Your World Rewards Participant who is a Platinum Preferred Member in the SPG Program will receive the following elite benefits with Eligible Flights if the reservation includes the Your World Rewards Participant’s Emirates Skywards membership number:
      • • Priority check-in at designated business check-in counters;
      • • Zone 1 priority boarding on Eligible Flights for the Your World Rewards Participant only.
    • 4.2.b. No Incremental Benefits. A Your World Rewards Participant who qualifies for elite benefits pursuant to Section 4.2.a and who is also an Emirates Skywards Silver Member, Emirates Skywards Gold Member, or Emirates Skywards Platinum Member in the Emirates Skywards programme will not receive incremental benefits under this Section 4.2.
  • 5. Termination of Participation in Your World Rewards.
  • 5.1 Termination by a Your World Rewards Participant. A Your World Rewards Participant may terminate his/her participation in Your World Rewards at any time by opting out of Your World Rewards by calling the SPG Customer Contact Centre or by logging in to his/her Emirates Skywards account.
  • 5.2 Termination by Starwood and Emirates. Starwood and Emirates may suspend Your World Rewards benefits or terminate a Your World Rewards Participant’s ability to participate in Your World Rewards at any time with immediate effect and without written notice, for any reason and in their sole discretion including, without limitation, if:
    • 5.2.a. The Your World Rewards Participant’s SPG Member account or Emirates Skywards programme account has been suspended or terminated for any reason;
    • 5.2.b. The Your World Rewards Participant no longer has active membership in both the SPG Program and the Emirates Skywards programme; or
    • 5.2.c.
      • • Starwood or Emirates believes the Your World Rewards Participant has: Violated the SPG Program Terms or the Emirates Skywards Programme Rules;
      • • Acted in a manner inconsistent with applicable laws, regulations and ordinances;
      • • Failed to pay any hotel bill when due to Starwood or an SPG Participating Hotel or failed to fulfil a Starwood Vacation Ownership financial obligation;
      • • Acted in an inappropriate, fraudulent, abusive or hostile manner;
      • • Breached or violated any of these Your World Rewards Terms; or
      • • Engaged in any misconduct or wrongdoing in connection with Your World Rewards.
  • 6. Other principles.
  • 6.1 Modification of Your World Rewards. Starwood and Emirates may change the Your World Rewards Terms at any time, for any reason and without notice.
  • 6.2 Termination of Your World Rewards. Starwood and Emirates may terminate Your World Rewards at any time. A Your World Rewards Participant may not earn Starpoints for Eligible Flights, or Skywards Miles for Stays at SPG Participating Hotels, or claim Your World Rewards benefits after the termination of Your World Rewards.
  • 6.3 Benefits Subject to Availability and Modification. All Your World Rewards benefits, amenities, offers, awards and services are subject to availability and may be changed at any time without notice.
  • 6.4 No Sale or Transfer. Your World Rewards benefits may not be sold, bartered or transferred (other than by Starwood, Emirates Skywards or their respective agents). Any attempted transfer, sale or barter will be void. Starwood, Emirates Skywards and their partners may refuse to honour or recognize any benefits which such party believes may have been transferred, sold or bartered.
  • 6.5 Your World Rewards Participant Data. Emirates Skywards and Starwood may each receive data regarding Your World Rewards Participants from the other party including, without limitation, names, addresses, email addresses, SPG Program account information, and Emirates Skywards programme account information.
    • 6.5.a. Emirates Skywards. Emirates Skywards may receive data regarding Your World Rewards Participants from Starwood which may be used by Emirates Skywards in connection with Your World Rewards including, without limitation, to verify account information, award Skywards Miles in the Emirates Skywards programme, and provide Your World Rewards elite benefits. The data provided to Emirates Skywards from Starwood may include a Your World Reward Participant’s name, email address, and SPG number and will be used by Emirates Skywards in accordance with the Emirates Skywards Privacy Policy.
    • 6.5.b. Starwood. Starwood may receive data regarding Your World Rewards Participants from Emirates Skywards which may be used by Starwood in connection with Your World Rewards including, without limitation, to verify account information, to award Starpoints, and to enable SPG Participating Hotels to provide Your World Rewards elite benefits. The data provided to Starwood from Emirates Skywards may include a Your World Reward Participant’s name, email address, and Emirates Skywards membership number and will be used by Starwood in accordance with Starwood’s Privacy Statement.
  • 6.6 No Warranties or Representations, Express or Implied. Starwood and Emirates make no warranties or representations, either expressed or implied with respect to type, quality or fitness of goods or services provided through Your World Rewards.
  • 6.7 Indemnification. You agree to indemnify and hold Starwood, Emirates, the SPG Participating Hotels and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents and employees harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorney’s fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of your breach of these terms and conditions or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
  • 6.8 Waiver. Waiver of any breach of these Your World Rewards Terms by any Your World Rewards Participant will not constitute a waiver of any other prior or subsequent breach of these Your World Rewards Terms.
  • 6.9 Limitation of Liability. IN NO EVENT WILL STARWOOD, EMIRATES OR ANY SPG PARTICIPATING HOTEL BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, WHICH ARISE OUT OF OR ARE IN ANY WAY CONNECTED WITH YOUR WORLD REWARDS OR THESE YOUR WORLD REWARDS TERMS.
  • 6.10 Choice of Law and Venue. Any disputes arising out of or related to Your World Rewards or these Your World Rewards Terms will be handled individually without any class action, and will be governed by, construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of England and Wales without regard to its conflicts of law rules. The exclusive jurisdiction for any claim or action arising out of or relating to these Your World Rewards Terms or the Your World Rewards with SPG and Emirates Skywards programme may be filed only in England and Wales.
  • 6.11 Trademarks. Your World Rewards, Starpoints, SPG, Preferred Guest, and their respective logos are the trademarks of Starwood or its affiliates. Emirates and Emirates Skywards are the trademarks of Emirates.
