Back in October, I wrote about the excellent deal that Le Club Accorhotels was having with Air Canada’s Aeroplan (read more here and here) that allowed members to earn Gold status in just one stay and a Platinum in three.
Unfortunately, the offer was too good and Le Club Accorhotels soon withdraw it. Many were able to take advantage of it before it was canceled, however.
There are still ways to get the Platinum status with close to minimal effort by taking an advantage of promotions that Le Club Accorhotels currently has with British Airways/Avios and Lufthansa.
Le Club Accorhotels has 2,500 bonus miles promotion with British Airways/Avios and Lufthansa. In both cases, Le Club Accorhotels first deposits 5,000 elite qualifying points to your account before they are swept for miles.
Note that the definition of a qualifying stay with Lufthansa is bit different and depends of the Le Club Accorhotels brand that you are staying at. If you stay at Sofitel, Pullman or MGallery hotel, the stay can be just one night.
Le Club Accorhotels has two separate Avios related offers. One is for British Airways Executive Club members and another one is for Avios (UK shopping scheme one).
The British Airways one requires Le Club Accorhotels Silver status or higher to participate, although this could be mistake on Accor’s part, as the T&C’s refer to just program sign up.
The Avios (UK shopping scheme) offer is available for all Le Club Accorhotels members, but Avios member must have his/her Avios UK street address in the UK. You can access my Avios piece here and Accor’s web page for this offer here.
Here’s what you can do:
If you are collecting Lufthansa Miles&More and stay at Sofitel, MGallery, or Pullman hotels five times before the end of the year, you can just do this version.
You can sign up for the Avios UK shopping scheme using an address in the country and then credit just one stay towards the program. Once the stay has posted, you have become a Le Club Accorhotels Silver member and can switch to the British Airways version of the offer.
Remember that you can move Avios between British Airways Executive Club and the UK Avios shopping program.
I keep receiving emails/Tweets/Facebook messages daily from readers that would like to receive instant Platinum sign up that haven’t been available for a year.
It is still very easy to get Platinum status with Accor and earning quite a few miles in the process. If you missed the Air Canada Aeroplan offer back in October, you can still take get the status in just five stays by having British Airways/Avios or Lufthansa as the partner.
