Expedia Further Waters Down Its Best Price Guarantee

Expedia’s US website offers Best Price Guarantee program that promises to match lower prices on other US based websites and throws in a $50 hotel coupon for later use.

Expedia updated the terms last time on November 2013 (read more here) and then on January 2014 (read more here).

You can access Expedia’s web page for its Best Price Guarantee here.

Here’s the latest update:

Expedia Best Rate Guarantee Watered Down

  1. Best Price Guarantee. In the unlikely event that you find a lower rate on Expedia.com or on another U.S.-based website within 24 hours of booking with Expedia.com, we will credit or refund to you the difference in price. In addition, we will give you a fifty dollar ($50.00US) coupon good on a future booking of an Expedia Special Rate hotel or air plus hotel package on Expedia.com with a $100 USD minimum value before taxes and fees. This Best Price Guarantee is subject to the terms and conditions listed below.

Now, the $50 hotel coupon suddenly has a minimum spend requirement of $100 or more before taxes/fees.

Here are some successful Expedia Best Price Guarantee cases that I have written about:

Expedia Best Price Guarantee: Case Booking.com Lower By 22

Expedia Best Price Guarantee Case: Orbitz Lower By 2 Cents

Expedia Best Price Guarantee: Flight On Orbitz 2 Cents Lower

Expedia Best Price Guarantee: Case Orbitz Lower By $1-$2 (3

Expedia Best Price Guarantee Case: Orbitz Price For LAN

You can always book hotels cheaper on other OTA’s that are offering better coupons and/or prices than Expedia. If they are slowly watering down the BPG program as they did with their Expedia Rewards (now Expedia Rewards+), why bother?

Make sure if your Expedia Bet Price Guarantee coupon was issued before November 20, 2014, that they don’t hit you with the minimum spend.
