On December 13, I wrote (access here) about cryptic emails that some Hilton HHonors Diamond members had received asking them to confirm mailing address.
The URL that Hilton was using on that email was indicating that lifetime status was upcoming.
You can access Hilton’s web page for Diamond benefits here.
Now, a Hilton spokesperson sent us the following statement:
I saw that you posted about HHonors potentially rolling out lifetime status earlier this week and I wanted to confirm that, starting in 2015, Hilton HHonors will begin introducing Lifetime Diamond Status. Hilton is always looking for new ways to reward members and takes into consideration feedback on how to recognize the most loyal members. Over the past several years, members have said that Lifetime Diamond Status is something that is important to them, which is why this status will be rolled out for HHonors’ most tenured Diamond members. We will have more details to share in early 2015 and we understand the first Lifetime Diamond members will receive their invitations in the early part of 2015.
You can read more about the lifetime status programs that Hilton competitors are offering from the following articles:
We must wait for few more weeks (let’s hope that the official announcements comes in early 2015) to find out the exact requirements of the lifetime Hilton HHonors Diamond status and if they’ll have Gold one as well.
Hotel programs tend to borrow ideas from each others, so I would imagine this to be modeled after Marriott Rewards and/or SPG lifetime status programs.
